For this week's In Focus we'll take a look at one of Club Penguin's proudest and most respected traditions: Coins for Change!Coins for Change was announced in December of 2007 as a donation of $1 million real dollars to various causes. When Club Penguin saw how successful it had been, Coins for Change returned in 2008, and it's been going on ever since.
The basic concept of CfC is that players donate their in-game coins to various causes that change every year. At the end of the event (usually on Christmas Eve), the results are tallied up, and the cause that earned the most coins gets the most amount of money. The amount of coins that you can donate has increased over the years, as well. Originally, the most you could donate was 500 coins. Now, you can donate up to 5,000!
Rockhopper visits every year to help out with this event. He usually brings Coins for Change banners that members can put in their igloo. This year, members AND nonmembers can buy the special Coins for Change background he's brought with him.
These are the different causes that you could donate to over the years:
2007
-Kid's Health
-Environment
-Kids around the world
2008
-Kids who are sick
-Kids who are poor and cannot go to school
-Kids without parents or who have been hurt by war
2009
-Kids who are poor
-Kids who are sick
-The Environment
2010
-Build safe places
-Protect the Earth
-Provide medical help
Hope you've learned a little bit more about this awesome event!
